Released Bangladeshi prisoner dies in jail

Barrackpore, Jun 18 (UNI) A released Bangladeshi prisoner was today found dead inside the premises of the Dum Dum Central Jail near here.

The dead body of Md Firdous, 45, had been sent for post-mortem and a magisterial inquiry would be instituted, police informed.

The cause of the death would only be known from the post-mortem report, police said.

The Dhaka citizen was earlier arrested under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act and later convicted.

He was transferred to Dum Dum Central Jail from Bangaon Sub- Correctional Centre in February 2007.

Even after his term of conviction was over, he stayed with other Bangladeshi nationals as a released prisoner as his deportation remained pending, police added.

A similar case of the death of a released Bangladeshi prisoner was also reported a couple of months back.
