Basavakalyana will be developed as tourist spot: Rs 30 Cr released
Bidar, June 14 (UNI) Basavakalyana, the birth place of 12th century saint Basaveshwara, will be developed into a tourist spot and Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today announced release of Rs 30 Crore for the purpose.
Speaking at a review meeting of the Basavakalyan Development Board here, he said that the funds would be released soon. Karnataka Government had released Rs 20 Crore in 2006 for the purpose.
Mr Yeddyurappa called upon the officials to strive hard to develop Basavakalyan as an international tourist spot.
The Chief Minister assured to provide all facilities to lakhs of Sikh pilgrims who visit the famous Gurudwar in Bidar every year.
Stating that steps would be taken soon to fill the vacancies in the Authority, Mr Yeddyurappa instructed the officials to speed up the development activities.
Later addressing a public meeting, Mr Yeddyurappa said that steps were taken to convert the Air force Airport in Bidar as Civil Airport and Rs three Crore had already been released for this purpose.
