E V Velu calls on Union Minister
Chennai, Jun 12 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Food Minister E V Velu today called on Union Petroleum Minister Murali Deora and requested him to sanction eight lakh gas connections to the state for the free gas stove with gas connection scheme.
As promised in the election manifesto, the DMK Government was implementing free gas scheme and had allotted Rs 160 crore for providing eight lakh connections during 2008-09.
Mr Deora promised to look into the request and take necessary action, an official release here said.
Mr Velu was accompanied by Union IT Minister R Raja, the release added.
