Indian ambassador discusses govt formation with Prachanda
Kathmandu, Jun 9 (UNI) Indian ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood met Maoist Chairman Prachanda at his residence in Naya Bazar this morning and talked about government formation in the Himalayan nation.
Though the details of the meeting were not known, it was said Mr Sood discussed about the formation of new government, election of first President and power-sharing among the political parties.
The political parties in Nepal have been holding informal consultations to form a new government and elect the first President after the abolition of monarchy on May 28.
Nepali Congress has proposed Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala for the first President of Nepal while the Maoists opposed, saying the election of ceremonial president and executive prime minister would create difficulties during the time of drafting of the constitution, due to the sharing of power.
The Maoists wanted the President, Prime Minister and all the important Ministries, saying it emerged as the largest party with 220 seats in the 601-strong Constituent Assembly.
