BJP urges police to take steps to stop transportation of cows

Madikeri, Karnataka, Jun 7 (UNI) The Kodagu unit of BJP has urged the police to immediately take steps to stop the illegal transportation of cows through Makutta gate to Kerala.

Every week four lorry-loads of cows were transported to Kerala, Kodagu District BJP General Secretary, Ravi Kushalappa said in a release here.

The healthy cows would be slaughtered in Kerala where there was no ban on cow slaughtering, he alleged.

He said the party has urged the Superintendent of Police, Kodagu to immediately deploy special force in the border areas to stop the illegal transportation of cows.

The police should stop this illegal activity within a week failing which the party would stage protest in front of district police office, the BJP leader warned.
