REL increases power tariff by 6 to 15 per cent

Mumbai, Jun 5 (UNI) Reliance Energy Limited (REL) has increased the power tariff by 6 to 15 per cent, with effect from from June 1.

REL has taken this step as per the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission's order. Over 26.5 lakh suburban customers are expected to be affected by this tariff hike.

The tariff will be raised for residences by 6 per cent, for commercial places by 15 per cent and for industries by 12 per cent.

REL had asked for 4.5 per cent hike in the tariff, according to REL sources.
