Naxal menace cause blackout in Bastar division
Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, June 5 (UNI) The life at 3,000 villages in Chhattisgarh's naxal-affected Bastar division was thrown out of gear with a blackout when naxals damaged three important towers for power supply today, official sources said.
Rail traffic, hospital, potable water facility and other indispensable services were hampered badly here and in this district's towns and villages.
The towers in Dantewada district's Barsur and Jharaghati and Bijapur district's Bodali were devastated today at 0700 hrs disrupting power supply in Bijapur, Narayanpur and here.
Due to the naxal terror local officers and workers did not reach the affected places. After strengthening the security, officers were being put in their job at warfooting basis so that the power supply could be restored. The electricity board's officers were sent to the work under police security through helicopters.
In this regard, Bastar Division Commissioner G S Mishra had called a meeting here.
