Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission member suspended
Chandigarh, June 5 (UNI) The Haryana government has suspended Ms Shakuntla Yadav, Member of State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission, with immediate effect for indulging in blatant misuse of her office and authority.
The government took the decision on the basis of the report of an enquiry conducted by Justice R S Madan, the president of the Commission, into the allegations levelled by Mr T C Gupta, IAS against Ms Yadav, an official spokesman said.
In the inquiry report, it had been stated that the charges levelled against Shakuntla Yadav were proved on record.
Ms Yadav, the report said, had preponed so many cases from the actual dates of hearing and then decided the cases while sitting singly, which is in contravention to the provisions of Consumer Protection Act, 1986.
In the report, it had been observed that the preponement of these cases ''leaves no manner of doubt that she wanted to decide these cases prior to completion of her term on June 9, 2008.'' Ms Yadav had misused her official position knowing fully well that she could not hold the sitting of the Commission singly without there being any authority from the outgoing President and thus violated the provision of the Act.
