CBTC urges NE states to use bamboo for low carbon
Agartala, June 5 (UNI) The Cane and Bamboo Technology Centre (CBTC) has urged the policy makers in Northeastern states and development activists to use bamboo for low carbon economy which would help to contain the global warming.
A CBTC release issued here today on the occasion of the World Environment Day said as part of the celebrations, about 60 field functionaries from the NE states would be imparted training on bamboo nursery and plantation under the National Bamboo Mission Scheme.
The CBTC had been continuously promoting the propagation and utilisation of bamboo, an environment friendly natural resource, for all practical purposes and keeping this in mind, the institute launched the campaign for a low carbon economy, the release stated.
The melting of the icebergs and their reciprocal impact on the continuous rise of the sea level, increasing global temperature, flood and droughts, prevalence of several diseases are some of the most important issues directly related to environment which the world community has been struggling to tackle.
