Cairn gets exploration licence from Sri Lanka govt
New Delhi, Jun 5 (UNI) Cairn India, a subsidiary of the UK-based Britain's Cairn Energy Plc, today said it has received a licence from the Sri Lanka government to explore oil and gas in the Mannar Basin.
The company said in a statement the petroleum resources agreement for the block will be signed in due course.
The offshore block SL 2007-01-001 covers about 3,400 square kilometre in water depths of 200-1,800 metres, it added.
