Four lakh kids to enter world of literacy tomorrow
Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 2 (UNI) About four lakh tiny tots will enter the world of literacy as the schools in Kerala reopen today after two-months of summer vacation.
The Education Department had made elaborate arrangements for ''pravesanotsavam,'' a cultural prgramme organised by the department for welcoming the tiny tots to the schools.
The government had taken various measures to reduce the weight of school bag, dividing the books into two parts.
The government would also provide books at free of cost to all students from first standard to eighth standard.
The government had also decided to cut short the mid-term examinations to two from the existing three.
For the first time in the country, the Kerala government was planning to provide health card to all students in the government schools and introduce sports and health subjects in the syllabus.
