Goa Govt to supply food commodities at subsidised rates
Panaji, May 31 (UNI) With a view to controlling rising prices of food commodities, the Goa government will supply some of the commodites to the public at subsidised rates from June 2.
Talking to reporters here today, Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat said the programme will be launched on June 2 and some of the essential commodites such as tur dal, Palmolein oil, white peas, green grams, wheat flour, vegetables and cococnuts will be supplied to the residents of the state on production of ration cards.
Consumers can purchase all or any of items at a time. The minimum one kg of the commodity shall be provided to the consumers through Goa Bagayatdar Sahakari Kharedi Vikri Saunstha, Goa Co-operative Marketing and Supply Federation and State Horiculture Corporation at 18 centres in the state.
Mr Kamat said Goa State Horticulture Coporation shall also run six mobile vehicles, which will collect the commodites from two agencies and sell items to the consumers at 72 centres at fixed price in various talukas, where there are no outlets.
The government shall bear the expenditure beyond the wholesale market, market cess, loading unloading charges and other handling charges. The amount shall be compensated as per the vouchers of the expediture and additional 10 per cent as the handling charges of the material to agency, the Chief Minister added.
