35 bank lockers and Rs 75 lakh unearthed during IT raids
Bhopal, May 31 (UNI) The Income Tax department continued raids on the premises of about 25 people, including an IAS officer and builders, for the second consecutive day today.
IT department sources said more than Rs 75 lakh of accumulated wealth by improper means was seized during the raids. Besides, about 35 bank lockers were traced and action was being taken to seal them.
While raids had been completed in about 40 premises, it was progressing at 15 other premises. Raids were expected to complete by night.
IT sleuths have raided more than 56 premises of about 25 people including Secretary (Home) Rajesh Rajora, Director (Health) Ashok Sharma, other senior officers, a former bureaucrat, builders and contractors.
The raids -- aided by police -- began yesterday morning here, at Indore, Jabalpur, Neemuch and Mumbai.
Premises included those of Mr Abhay Vishnoi -- who is posted at the state Small Industries Corporation's Jabalpur office -- and is the state Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi's brother.
Meanwhile, Mr Rajora sent his resignation to Chief Secy Rakesh Sahni yesterday.
