Neelam Katara welcomes court verdict, Yadavs to appeal in HC
New Delhi, May 30 (UNI) Neelam Katara, mother of Nitish Katara, who was killed six years back, today welcomed the trial court verdict sentencing Vikas Yadav and his cousin Vishal Yadav to life imprisonment in the case saying her faith in the judiciary has been restored.
''I respect the decision of the court. It proves that an ordinary citizen can think of getting justice,'' Ms Katara told reporters outside the Patiala House Court.
She thanked God, media and people in general for their support during this ''long battle''.
Vikas and Vishal, son of UP politician D P Yadav, were handed the sentence after being held guilty for killing Nitish Katara , son of an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, on the night of February 16, 2002, as they did not approve the friendship with Bharti Yadav, sister of Vikas.
Nitish was kidnapped from the venue of a wedding in Ghaziabad and his dead body was found in a village in Bulandshahr.
