APCC urges EC to take action against transfer of cops

Hyderabad, May 29 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today urged the Election Commission (EC) to order an immediate inquiry and take necessary action against police authorities in Nizamabad district for shifting police officials just 10 to 12 hours before the commencement of byelections.

A delegation of APCC office bearers, led by B Kamkalakara Rao and S Indrasain Reddy, submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Chief Electoral Officer here.

They complained that police authorities in Nizamabad district, where polling for by-election was on in Dichpally and Yellareddy Assembly constituencies, suddenly shifted several Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors.

They said these overnight shifting of police officials was against the guidelines.
