MP Cong submits memo to Governor
Bhopal, May 27 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee today urged Governor Balram Jakhar interven in annulling the state government's ''unconstitutional'' amendment of the fees and appeal rules under the Right to Information Act.
A delegation led by Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jamuna Devi and Congress state president Suresh Pachouri met Dr Jakhar, submitted a memorandum and alleged that amendment to the rules and extension of the time period -- from 30 to 180 days -- for disposal of a second appeal was a concerted attempt to render the Act ineffective.
''The amendment's motive is to conceal corruption by the Chief Minister and bureaucrats ahead of the Assembly polls,'' the memorandum alleged.
