Flight cancellation deters officials from NERCPA meet

Aizawl, May 27 (UNI) Flight cancellation today deterred Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and his parliamentary colleagues from attending the North East Region Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (NERCPA) annual conference at Aizawl, official source said.

The officials flew back to Delhi after the flight from Kolkata to Aizawl had been cancelled, the source said. They included Lok Sabha secretary general P D T Acharya, Rajya Sabha secretary general V K Agnihotri besides Mr Chatterjee.

However, the 11th annual conference will be held tomorrow and May 29 at the Assembly secretariat here, as scheduled.

Meanwhile, other delegates like the NE state speaker, deputy speaker and some MPs have already arrived in Aizawl for the conference.
