Drainage cleaned better than last year: Waikar

Mumbai, May 27 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Standing committee Chairman Ravindra Waikar today inspected drainage cleaning work, undertaken by the corporation, and said the work was almost complete and done well compared to last year.

''In H-East and H-West wards the drainage system are cent per cent clean but in K-East and K-West wards around 80 per cent of the work is completed and the pending work will be done next week,'' Mr Waikar said.

He inspected many Municipal wards in the city and said that the cleaning work in P-South and R-South wards are also almost complete and he noticed improvement in the same as compared to last year.

Mr Waiker assured that Shiv Sena will save Kalina pond for which the corporators and administration will strictly pay attention towards the pond's cleanliness and address other problems related to it.

It may be noted that the corporation spends money in crores for silt cleaning in the city every year to prevent flooding and help the rain water get drained out.
