Pondy Govt seeks Centre's nod for recruiting cops

Puducherry, May 26 (UNI) Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy today said his government has urged the Centre to take steps to increase the strength of the police force proportionate to the population of the Union Territory.

Distributing certificates to 200 people who underwent training successfully to join the police force here, he said efforts were on to recruit more police personnel to maintain law and order situation in the Union Territory.

The Chief Minister asked the cops to update themselves with the technological advancements to meet the challenges posed by criminals in the modern age.
