Crime Branch produces challan in J
Srinagar, May 23 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police Crime Branch (CB) today produced a challan in a local court in the frontier district of Kupwara against a cashier of State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) in misappropriation case.
A spokesman of the CB said a complaint was received from General Manager SRTC about alleged misappropriation of government money of about Rs 25.59 lakh by cashier Ghulam Ahmad Malik.
He said during the investigation it was revealed that the accused depot cashier instead of depositing the amount in the bank in the SRTC account had prepared fake bank pay-in-slip mentioning that the money was deposited in the bank.
The accused, this way, has embezzled the government money.
He later purchased 3 vehicles in the name of his son, Naseem Ahmad Malik.
All these vehicles have been seized and challan produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate, Handwara, he said.
