Humidity and temperature go down in Kolkata

Kolkata, May 21 (UNI) The city today experienced a relatively pleasant day with both temperature and humidity remaining low.

The Alipore Met office had predicted partly cloudy sky. The day's maximum temperature was 34.6 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal, and the minimum was 24.6 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal. The maximum and minimum humidity level was recorded at 81 at 41 per cent respectively.

However, the Met office predicted a rise in temperature tomorrow-- around 36 degrees Celsius.

While, there has only been traces of rainfall in the city in the last 24 hours, the Met office forecast thunder squall was likely, with wind speed reaching between 50 and 60 kmph in isolated parts of West Bengal during the next 24 hours. There might be appreciable rainfall in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and isolated places over North and South Dinajpur and Malda.

In the last 24 hours, Cooch Behar recorded about 3mm of rainfall, and Alipurduar and Midnapore recorded 2mm each.

The maximum temperature was appreciably below normal in many parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and few places in Gangetic West Bengal, the weathermen said.
