Traders delegation meets Mayor, demand notice for sealed shops
New Delhi, May 20 (UNI) A delegation of Delhi traders today met Delhi Mayor Arti Mehra and submitted a memorandum containing a list of areas protected from sealing under the Master Plan and other Acts.
The delegation demanded that the MCD publicise the areas to remove confusion from public as well as MCD officials.
While conveying their gratitude on decision of the MCD to issue notice prior to sealing of any premises in Delhi, the traders, who met the Mayor at Town hall, demanded that the advantage of notice should also be extended to all such premises which have been sealed as on date and opportunity must be given to them to place their defence in order to meet right to equality and principle of natural justice.
The CAIT said issuance of notice was not sufficient.
''The opportunity of hearing should also be given to traders as per provisions of the MCD Act. Even Right to Appeal as granted under the MCD Act should not be violated further,''it said.
It further said if a person stops misusing after receiving the notice, the said property should not be sealed. The CAIT also said in order to curb illegal constructions, building plans in unauthorised colonies and other areas should be sanctioned with immediate effect.
While demanding de-sealing of properties which were wrongly sealed, the CAIT suggested the Mayor that a special cell should be constituted at Town Hall to deal with cases of wrong sealing. The cell should comprise elected representatives, officials and trade representatives.
It further submitted that areas covered under the Master Plan Amendment Notifications as published by the DDA recently in newspapers should also be exempted from sealing as Government intends to provide sealing cover to such areas.
Meanwhile, the CAIT has advised the Delhi traders to submit details of cases of wrong sealing in their respective areas to CAIT office-bearers so that the same can be submitted to the Delhi Mayor for appropriate action.
