Tough legislation needed to deal with terrorism: Tomar
Bhopal, May 18 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh BJP President Narendra Singh Tomar today welcomed Supreme Court Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan's statement that security of people is the responsibility of the government and a strict legislation is needed for the purpose.
In a statement issued here today, Mr Tomar said a strict legislation like the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) is needed to deal with terrorism but the Congress was playing with the security of the country.
''The Congress-led UPA Government does not have a policy nor intention to deal with terrorism. No arrests in connection with terrorist incidents in the past two years has encouraged terrorists,'' he said, adding that the phrase of ''zero tolerance'' towards the menace has become a matter of joke for the world.
Mr Tomar demanded the Centre to frame tough legislation to control terrorism and create an atmosphere that would encourage security forces.
