Congress stands for development and progress:Sonia Gandhi
Gulbarga, May 17 (UNI) AICC President Sonia Gandhi here today appealed to the people of the state to elect Congress saying that the Congress stands for development, progress and stability.
Addressing largely attended election meeting, she assured that if the Congress is voted to power, it would develop the state and strive for the uplift of Dalits, minorities, downtrodden and farmers.
Listing out the achievements of the Congress led-UPA Government, she described the implementation of employment guarantee scheme, waiver of loans of Rs 60,000 crore, introduction of women reservation bill, in the parliament Nehru Mission, Jungle Ka Jamen schemes as historical.
She said that the UPA government implementing "Desh Nava Nirman" programme and added that the UPA government running the nation in development path.
Referring to the Jaipur bomb blasts, Ms.Gandhi said that the Congress party was very sad about the terror act and loss of life.
"The terrorism is not only the India's problem but it is also the World's problem" she said.
Recalling the sacrifice of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi in fighting against terrorism, she reiterated that the Congress Party was taking all steps to curb terrorism.
Criticising the BJP for its accusation of Congress, she alleged that the BJP was trying divide the society on the lines of communalism.
