CM announces compensation for kin of electrocution victims
Bhubaneswar, May 17 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 from his Relief Fund to the kin of each of the seven labourers, who were electrocuted at Sanada near Talcher in Angul district, last night.
In addition to this, the Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) and Rural Development Department also announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 each to the family members of the victims.
Besides, the district Red Cross society offered a compensation of Rs 5,000 to each of the affected family members.
Altogether, seven labourers were killed and four seriously injured after coming in contact with a 11 KVA live wire.
Police said the victims were pulling a mixture machine, used in road construction work, which came in contact with the live wire lying on the road.
Seven died on the spot and the four injured were rushed to the Talcher hospital in a critical condition.
