Illegal traders of subsidised rice to face stern action
Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, May 16 (UNI) Maintaining that the illegal sale and purchasing of subsidised rice is an offence, East Godavari Joint Collector G S R S Vijayakumar today said stern action would be taken against those involved in it.
Reviewing the status of distribution of rice under the Rs-2-a-kg rice scheme at a meeting of the Tahsildars here, he asked them to convene a special meeting of all the fair price shop dealers to explain them about the stringent action that would be taken against those who indulge in such illegal activities.
He said the subsidised rice would be distributed through fair price shops from July 1 to 15.
Social audit system was being introduced to ensure fair and proper distribution of the essential commodities through Public Distribution System, he added.
