Forward Bloc urges Left to keep away from Nuclear talks
Thiruvananthapuram, May 16 (UNI) All India Forward Bloc General Secretary Debabrata Biswas, MP, today urged the Left parties to keep away from the negotiations with the UPA Government on the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the Forward Bloc would strongly recommend to the Left parties to keep away from the May 28 meeting as the last 17 meetings on the issue failed to yield any result.
''Our stand is very clear. Left parties will not allow the government to sign the 123 Agreement, which is against the interest of the nation,'' he added.
He said the government should consider a multilateral agreement on nuclear issue rather than going for a unilateral agreement with the United States.
Referring to the price hike, he alleged that the UPA government had failed miserably to check the hike in the prices of essential commodities. ''The inflation is going high and the steps taken by the government so far are mere cosmetics,'' he added.
