Bhajan, Chautala in connivance: Deepender Hooda
Chandigarh, May 15 (UNI) Member of Parliament Deepender Singh Hooda, son of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, has alleged that former chief ministers Bhajan Lal and Om Parkash Chautala were indulging in politics of connivance in the Adampur assembly constituency where byelections would be held on May 22.
In the Adampur constituency, Mr Bhajan Lal of the Haryana Janhit Congress (BL) is pitted against Mr Sampat Singh of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) of Mr Chautala.
''The people of Adampur constituency have understood the politics of connivance being practised by Mr Bhajan Lal and Mr Chautala.
Therefore, they are neither favouring the Haryana Janhit Congress (BL) candidate Bhajan Lal nor INLD nominee Sampat Singh,'' Mr Deepender Hooda was addressing an election meeting at Kajla village in Hisar district late last night.
Mr Hooda said Mr Chautala had nominated Mr Sampat Singh to help Mr Bhajan Lal win the election. He said Mr Chautala was well aware that the candidate of his party was ''far away from the winning situation'' in the byelection from Adampur.
Had the INLD sure of a victory in the byelection, it would have nominated Mr Abhey Singh Chautala and not Mr Sampat Singh as the party candidate, he added.
''The people of the area have a good opportunity to teach a lesson to both Mr Bhajan Lal and Mr Om Parkash Chautala. They should not let this opportunity go,'' he added.
He earlier addressed a series of election meetings in more than a dozen villages falling in the same constituency.
The MP described Congress as a party which represented all sections of the society and said the people belonging to all sections of the society had faith in the Congress.
He, however, said the result of these byelections would not affect the state Government in anyway, but in case the voters of Adampur got Congress candidate Ranjit Singh elected with a massive margin, a new era of development would be ushered in the constituency.
