LeT commander among 2 ultras killed in Doda
Jammu, May 14 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police today killed two militants of Lashkare-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit including a Pakistan trained in Rajpura area of Doda district while 9.5-kg of RDX was seized and one person was arrested in Ramban district, official sources here today said.
Police sources said that on specific information regarding the movement of dreaded LeT Commander in Pullaie-Kinthal of Rajpura area, a search operation was launched by the district police and the area was cordoned.
''The ultras were asked to surrender but the self styled Commander along with his associate militant opened indiscriminate firing and lobbed a grenade on the search party, thereby triggering a fierce encounter, which lasted for about few hours,'' Manohar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Doda told UNI adding that later both the militants were gunned down.
The slain militants have been identified as Abu Saifullah resident of Pakistan (LeT Commander) and Zulafkar resident of Sunar Thawa Chiralla.
The slain Pakistan Commander of Lashkar outfit was active in the area for the last nine years while his associate, a local militant had joined the outfit after the killing of his militant brother identified as Imtiaz Hussain code Abu Turab in March this year, Mr Singh said.
However, a large cache of arms and ammunition comprising one AK Rifle with three magazines and 10 rounds, one Chinese grenade, two pouches and huge quantity of incriminating material was recovered from the slain militants.
Meanwhile, a major tragedy was averted when one person was arrested by the security forces in Ramban district and 9.5-kg of RDX was recovered from his possession.
''Police and 23 Rashtriya Rifles launched a search operation in village Manjos Khari in tehsil Budhal and recovered 9.5 kilogram RDX and six UBGL grenades from the possession of one Mohammad Shafi, resident of Charwari,'' they said.
In another incident, police and troops of 38 Rashtriya Rifles today launched a joint search operation at Gambir Muglian and recovered 128 AK rounds, 132 Pika rounds, 171, 9mm rounds and two hand grenades, official sources added.
