Home Minister puts blast toll at 63 ; Advani at over 70

Jaipur, May 14 (UNI) Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria said 63 deaths have been confirmed in the serial blasts which rocked the walled city here yesterday.

While 56 deaths were reported at the SMS Hospital here, seven others were reported from SDM Hospital, Mr Kataria said.

However, the hospital and police sources had put the toll at 67 last evening.

Even BJP prime ministerial candidate LK Advani, in a written statement released during his press conference this afternoon, also put the death toll over 70.

A total of 216 people sustained injuries, of which 91 were still being treated at the SMS Hospital, 24 others were admitted to SDM Hospital, 2 at Kanwantia Referral Hospital, and one at the Satellite Hospital, PWD Minister Rajendra Singh Rathore said.

Two people were detained in connection with the blasts and they were being interrogated by investigating agencies of the state government and the Centre.
