1 dead, 2 injured in blast at Jalpaiguri near Assam border

Jalpaiguri, May 12 (UNI) At least one person was killed and two others were seriously injured today when a bomb exploded near the Shantiban NVI checkpost at the Assam-Bengal border in the Barobisha area of Alipurduar subdivision of this district.

Jalpaiguri Superintendent of Police S Tripurari said the bomb, concealed in a bicycle parked near the border, exploded, killing one person on the spot.

The injured persons were admitted to the Alipurduar Subdivisional Hospital.

A huge police contingent, led by the SP, rushed to the area, he informed.
