54000 job cards distributed in Kupwara, once hub of militants
Srinagar, May 11 (UNI) About 900 rural works have been taken up and 54000 job cards distributed under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in the frontier district of Kupwara.
An official spokesman said the job cards have been distributed by the Rural Development department in the district since February 2006.
However, registration for other people was going on throughout the district, he added.
He said about 900 rural works have been taken up in the district.
The officers have been directed to monitor the ongoing development works and ensure that transparency and accountability is maintained in the implementation of development works, he said.
