Two former ministers arrested for violating election code
Bangalore, May 9 (UNI) Two former ministers from Congress and Janata Dal(S), respectively, were today arrested for violating election code of conduct during campaigning for the coming Karnataka Assembly elections.
A Belgaum report said former minister Congress party candidate from Yamakanmardi constituency, Satish Jarkiholi, was arrested for violating the election code of conduct here in Ullagaddi Khanapur in the district.
Police acted on a complaint and arrested Mr Jarkiholi this afternoon as he had obtained permission for public meeting in one place and was holding the meeting in elsewhere. He was released on bail later, Police officials said.
In another incident Janata Dal(S) candidate and former minister Iqbal Ansari was today arrested by the police for violating model code of conduct in Koppal.
Election officials said the candidate was caught when he was moving in a motor convoy using more number of vehicles than permitted by the officials.
One of the vehicles was seized while the drivers of the remaining being illegally used drove away, officials added.
Mr Ansari was released on bail later.
