Left-backed TU leader killed
Barrackpore, May 9 (UNI) Police today recovered the body of a CITU backed trade union leader of the Reliance Jute Mill at Bhatpara in North 24 Parganas.
Police suspect that Shaukat Ali(59), vice-president of the CITU affiliated Bengal Chatkal Mazdoor Union's Reliance Jute Mill unit, was murdered early today. The body had injuries on the head.
According to police, local people informed the Jagatdal police station that Ali's body was found near his quarters at Coolie Line of the Reliance Jute Mill.
Investigation has been started, police said.
Meanwhile, local leaders of the ruling CPI(M) rushed to the spot and claimed that Ali was their active member.
