JD(S) lambasts Guv on NICE
Bangalore, May 9 (UNI) The Janata Dal (S), if elected to power, will review all the decisions taken by the Karnataka Governor and his advisors during President's Rule in the state and also punish the officials responsible, party spokesperson Danish Ali said today.
Addressing newspersons here, Mr Ali came down heavily on the Governor and his advisors for taking the decision to hand over land to Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE), which is executing Bangalore-Mysore Corridor Road Works.
Charging the Governor with acting at the behest of the Congress and its leaders, Mr Ali said the decision to handover the controversial land to NICE was against the interests of the state and its people, besides violation of the model code for elections.
''The government, instead of taking a unilateral decision favouring NICE project of Mr Ashok Kheny, could have waited till installation of the popular government for which the poll process is already on,'' he underlined.
Charging the NICE Company Managing Director Ashok Kheny, who was 'nursing a grievance against the JD(S) and its leaders', with campaigning in favour of the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates in the elections, Mr Ali feared the future governments formed by either party will come under the 'dictat of Mr Kheny.' Expressing confidence that people will bring JD(S) back to power, Mr Ali noted Karnataka can prosper only under Mr Kumaraswamy and the JD(S), as people have suffered under the misrule of both the Congress and BJP governments.
The Congress and BJP want to practice bipolar polity in the country, but people will not endorse their designs, he added.
''It is because of the presence of parties like the JD(S), the communal forces have been kept at bay,'' Mr Ali said.
