JD(S) candidate arrested for violating code

Koppal, Karnataka, May 9 (UNI) Janata Dal(S) candidate and former minister Iqbal Ansari was today arrested by the police for violating model code of conduct.

Election officials said the candidate was caught when he was moving in a motor convoy using more number of vehicles than permitted by the officials.

One of the vehicles was seized while the drivers of the remaining being illegally used drove away, officials added.

Mr Ansari was released on bail later.
