Bapu calls upon Left to serve poor

Panchkula, May 9 (UNI) Hindu Religious preacher Bapu Asa Ram today said he would throw his weight behind communists if they actually started serving the poor.

''I call upon the communists to actually serve the poor and I will join hands with them in this noble cause,'' the Bapu said while addressing a religious congregation at the Dussehra Maidan here this evening.

Referring to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Sant Asa Ram said he had always asked Mr Badal to shower his grace on the poor and the farmers.

''Main to unhe kehta hun ke khul ke barso gharibon par aur kisanon par,'' he said while playing on his surname 'Badal' (cloud).
