'State leaders should decide on positions to Karunakaran loyalists'

Kochi, May 8 (UNI) AICC General Secretary Mohsina Kidwai today said the Kerala Congress leaders had to decide on the positions to be given to leaders who come back to the party-fold alongwith veteran leader K Karunakaran.

Briefly speaking to reporters after holding discussions with Mr Karunakaran at his daughter's residence here, she said '' State leaders like Oomen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala should suggest who should be accommodated where and the high command will look into it.'' On the details of the discussions, Ms Kidwai said '' Whenever Mr Karunakaran, Mr Chandy, Mr Chennithala and myself sit together, we discuss on the ways and means to strenghten the party,'' She said more meetings, rallies and seminars would be conducted to take the party's message to the people in the State.

Earlier, speaking at a seminar organised by the District Congress Committee, Ms Kidwai alleged that the LDF Government in the state had failed to contain the prices of essential commodities and was responsible for the food crisis in the State.

''Instead of taking proactive steps, the Government was trying to blame the Centre for the price rise of essential commodities,'' she added.
