Parliamentarians pay tributes to Tagore on birth anniversary
New Delhi, May 08 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha L K Advani today led the nation in paying floral tributes to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on his 147th birth anniversary.
Among others who paid tributes to Tagore at the Central Hall of Parliament house included Union ministers Shivraj Patil and Pawan Kumar Bansal.
A booklet containing the profile of Tagore was presented to those present on the occasion.
The portrait of Gurudev was unveiled in the Central Hall by the then President Dr Rajendra Prasad on September 12, 1958 in recognition of his many-splendoured contributions to the nation.
