CBI court convicts eleven in a fodder scam case

Ranchi, Apr 29 (UNI) The designated CBI court today handed punishment to eleven accused, varying between three to seven years, in a case of the multi-crore fodder scam unearthed in erstwhile Bihar.

The court of special judge Manoranjan Kavi also slapped fine varying between Rs fifty thousand to twenty five lakhs to the accused involved in a case of fraudulently withrawing about Rs 15.5 crores from the Jamshedpur treasury.

The chargesheet was filed against 39 people but one among them died during trial and one pleaded guilty before the court.

On April 23 the court acquitted two and awarded punishement to two accused.

Today, the court awarded punishment to eleven people leaving other twentytwo accused, official sources said.

The quantum of punishment for remaining twenty accused would be announced tomorrow.
