Rus Security Council secy to hold talks on Iran n-program in Tehran

Moscow, Apr 28 (UNI) Russian Security Council secretary Valentine Sobolev is visiting Tehran, leading a high-level delegation to hold wide-ranging talks on current international, regional and nuclear issues with senior Iranian officials today.

During the talks, the two sides are expected to discuss bilateral cooperation in security, as well as topical international and regional issues.

They will also discuss the Iranian nuclear programme, as well as the situation in West Asia, RIA Novosti reported today quoting a source close to the negotiations.

Mr Sobolev is also due to meet with the Secretary to the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Saeed Jalili, as a follow-up to his visit to Moscow, last December.

A delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), led by its Deputy Director General, Olli Heinonen, will also arrive in Tehran today to continue talks on the Iranian nuclear programme started last week, the agency said.

Iran announced earlier this month it was installing another 6,000 uranium enrichment centrifuges at its underground facility in Natanz in addition to the current 3,000.

It also announced tests of advanced enrichment centrifuges, along with plans to build a second uranium processing plant by next March.
