Over 150 people in Jat affected by diarrhoea

Sangli, Maharashtra, Apr 27 (UNI) Over 300 people have been affected by diarrhoea that has reportedly spread due to polluted water in Jat tehsil of the district.

The cause of the epidemic is reportedly leak in a drinking water pipe that has lead to mixing of drinking water and drainage water, District Health Officer Dr L S Sale informed today.

The situation is now under control as a team of doctors are working there, Mr Sale said.

Initially some cases were registered in Ramraonagar area of the district, where the Health Department alerted people and advised them to take some precautionary measures, like use of boiled water for drinking and other purposes, he said.

''Of the three hundred affected people, 150 have been cured. The remaining patients have been admitted to private hospitals,'' Mr Sale informed.
