Nothing on table for South Africa's MTN bid as of now: Bharti

New Delhi, Apr 25 (UNI) Leading telecom mobile operator Bharti Airtel today said ''there is nothing on the table as of now'' regarding the bid for South African telecommunications group MTN.

Earlier, the media had reported that the telecom giant may bid for MTN, a move that could bring the Indian company's biggest overseas acquisition and turn it into one of the most powerful mobile phone operators in emerging markets.

''There is nothing on the table as of now,'' Bharti Enterprises Group Managing Director Akhil Gupta told reporters here.

The media had quaoted an unidentified person familiar with the deliberations as saying that Bharti's board members were in advanced discussions about its growth strategy, which had largely been organic to date.

''The company board has not discussed any such matter in its recent meeting,'' Mr Gupta said.
