Autorickshaw, taxi drivers to observe one-day strike

Nashik, Apr 22 (UNI) Autorickshaw and taxi drivers in the district will observe a one-day strike tomorrow, in support of their demands.

The strike will be observed, as part of their statewide 'chakka jaam' agitation.

''Our major demand is cancellation of compulsion for electronic meters,'' 'Shramik Rickshaw-Taxi Driver-Owner Sena' founder and president Sunil Bagal said here today.

Though the statewide strike will be of three days, in the district, it will of only one day, to avoid inconvenience to people, Mr Bagal said. There are as many as 22,000 autorickshaws and 3,000 taxis in the district.

Cancellation of increased fine for autorickshaws and taxis and public servant status for owners and drivers of autorickshaws and taxis, are some of the other demands.
