President assures Mexico of cooperation in various sectors
Mexico City, Apr 18 (UNI) President Pratibha Patil has assured Mexican President Philip Cauldron of India's cooperation in various sectors including films, civil aviation, railways and information technology.
An External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said the assurance was given by Ms Patil to the Mexican President at a meeting last night.
India would assist Mexico to resurrect its once famed film industry, known for its special effects, he said.
He said before the meeting, the two countries signed agreements on increasing mutual cooperation in power and civil aviation sectors, under which India and Brazil would render technical assistance to Mexico's power sector. India and Mexico also agreed to code sharing in civilian and freight services of the civil aviation sector.
Mexico would provide assistance to India to usher in a second ''Green Revolution'' and also in extending the underground railway services, he said.
The two leaders stressed on working together to fulfil the aspirations of the people and to resolve the foodgrain crisis, he said. Mr Cauldron assured Ms Patil of Mexico's cooperation in promoting information technology, medicine and small industries, the spokesperson said.
Ms Patil also stressed the need for greater cooperation in the field of climate change and promoting cultural ties between the two nations by holding annual cultural festivals in both the countries, he added.
