Suspected arms dealers sent to five day police remand

Coochbehar, Apr 16 (UNI) The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Coochbehar district court today sent two honey sellers, arrested for their alleged involvement in arms dealing, to five day police remand.

Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar said the miscreants were arrested from the Chandanchura area in the district and a six chamber pistol, three single-shooter 9 mm pistols, 62 rounds of .303 cartridges, 23 rounds of 9 mm bullets and four rounds of .32 cartridges were seized from their possession.

The SP said although the arrested persons seemed to be honey sellers, police had received a tip-off that they were involved in arms dealing.

Meanwhile, investigation was on in this connection, the SP added.
