Uttarakhand Governor greets people on Baisakhi eve

Dehra Dun, Apr 12 (UNI) Uttarakhand Governor B L Joshi has extended his warm greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Baisakhi festival tomorrow.

'' The festival of Baisakhi commemorates the contribution of the farmers to the social and economic systems of the country,'' Governor Joshi said in his message.

'' The festival, observed during the harvest season of crops, reminds us of the call of 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan','' he added.

He said at a time when the world was going through a shortage of food, everyone should be committed towards the cause of agriculture and farmers.

Baisakhi had special significance for the Sikhs as on this day their tenth Guru Gobind Singh Ji organised the order of the Khalsa, he said.
