Ousted MC chairperson, husband booked for corruption

Kaithal, Apr 12 (UNI) The ousted chairperson of local municipal council, Sunita Bansal, and her husband Krishan Bansal have been booked on the charge of allegedly cheating, forgery, embezzlement and misappropriation of public money to the tune of crore of rupees by committing grave irregularities.

The case against the Bansal couple has been registered under section 403 (dishonesty) 406 (criminal breach of trust) 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant), 420 (cheating), 467 (Forgery), 468 (forgery and cheating), 471 (using forged document) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC read with section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.

The court of CJM Ajay Pareshar gave the direction to book the couple on a complaint filed by a local councilor Rajesh Bittu.

The complainant had alleged that grave irregularities had been committed by Sunita Bansal by misusing her powers as chairman in allotment of construction works to the tune of Rs 2.50 crore.

The court has directed the Kaithal SHO to register an FIR and investigate the case in allotment of construction works by misusing emergency powers under section 35 (91) of Haryana Municipal Act 1973.

Ms Sunita Bansal was suspended by the Director local bodies Haryana on March 25 and was removed from the post of the MC chairperson by the members who passed a no-confidence motion against her a couple of days ago.
