Central team visits flood-affected areas of TN
Chennai, Apr 9 (UNI) The four-member Central team, deputed to visit the flood-affected areas of Tamil Nadu, today finished its four-day trip by holding consultations with the state government officials.
The team, headed by Home Ministry Joint Secretary Dharmendar Sharma, held talks with state Revenue Minister I Periasamy and senior officials including Revenue Commissioner Shakthikanta Das on the extent of damages caused in the recent rains.
The state government officials briefed the team about the extent of damages caused to several thousand hectares of standing crops in various districts.
Official sources said, the team which had visited various districts of the state from April six and held detailed discussion with district collectors, would soon submit a detailed report on the damages and recommend necessary Central aid to the state to undertake relief and rehabilitation measures for the affected people.
