RBI asks public not to make garlands of currency notes
Chandigarh, Apr 8 (UNI) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appealed to the members of the public not to use currency notes for making garlands, decorating pandals and places of worship or for showering on personalities in social events as such actions deface the banknotes and shorten their life.
The RBI has urged that banknotes should be respected as they are a symbol of the Sovereign and public should not misuse these so that the life of the notes is enhanced, Mr Lalit Srivastav, General Manager, RBI Chandigarh stated here today.
The RBI has stated that it has been taking all measures to supply clean banknotes across the country and has urged the members of public to contribute their mite to its efforts.
